Specialty in Business Applications Development

For students to compete in the workforce they need to demonstrate ability in a complete set of skills and knowledge areas. Cornell CL6 is offered with a focus on the development of web business applications. It provides students with a rounded set of courses including project management, system analysis and design, web applications, database server administration and implementation. The program Emphasis is placed on practical and theory knowledge. The course has been strongly influenced by the latest technology used in industry.

National Diploma CL6 provides an opportunity for those who are holders of computing diplomas / degrees and wish to acquire modern skills in developing business web applications.

Laboratories

All Cornell students have access to the Labs any time during the school open hours. Because Cornell is a Microsoft IT Academy, students have access to the latest Microsoft Software Products

Training Equipments

During the hands-on labs students will practice using virtual environment this gives them the opportunity to be exposed to scenarios that simulates real work environment and systems.

Skills and Employer Value

Students will receive skills in developing web applications including object oriented programming, server side programming, database design, administration and implementation.
There will be strong emphasis on the development of other important skills such as project management, requirement analysis and system design and independent thinking and research.

Entry Criteria: Successful completion of a Diploma in Computing equivalent to Level 5 or higher.
IELTS score of 5.5 or higher

Overview

The CL6 National diploma equips graduates with the required technical skills and knowledge to develop business applications. The focus is on web applications development using languages such as VB.NET and ASP.NET. Students will gain all the needed skills to play a part in the development of business applications such as advanced programming, database administration and implementation, server administration and project management skills. This Diploma is about 50% theory and 50% "hands-on" using modern industry standard computing software to prepare students for roles in the computing industry.

The graduate will be able to:

  • Provide and implement solutions to issues related to the development and deployment of web business applications
  • Liaise among stakeholders to elicit and communication requirements for web business applications
  • Translate those requirements into functional and system specifications
