Located in the heart of Auckland's busy metropolis, Cornell Institute of Business and Technology, in consultation with leaders of the hospitality industry, the Hospitality Standards Institute of New Zealand and top hospitality providers have developed an innovative and exciting course in Professional Hospitality that addresses the varied demands of local businesses and international markets. A Diploma in Hospitality Management opens up an exciting global career pathway that leads to senior positions in hotels, cruise ships, super yachts, catering, local cafes or restaurants.

As programme manager of New Zealand’s newest Professional Hospitality Training department, I welcome you.
I am very excited about this newly designed course. It is designed to introduce students new to the industry the right and professional way to provide customer service that will be rewarded around the world. Also set students up for their first taste of management.
After many years at the top of the Hospitality and Education business I know that this course is 100% prefect for the New Zealand industry. This has been confirmed after much discussion with Industry providers, Hospitality Industry Training Organisations and the New Zealand Qualification Authority.
I am looking forward to teaching you skills I have learned in my vast experience spent in hotels and function room around the world and watching you grow as an industry professional.
The aim
The National Diploma of Hospitality Management level 5 has some unique points that no other private training school offers its students.
This course is not only exposes students to some classroom theory relating to the industry, but also has lots of practical experiences and then places students on a six months internship in an actual New Zealand hospitality work environment.
If the student shows promise to the internship employer a future position should almost certainly become available.
The course also gives an understanding of most departments and management ideas required for first level supervisors and management in this expanding marketplace.
New Zealand is currently understaffed in the hospitality industry and so highly qualified and industry experienced individuals are constantly required.
