National Diplomas (Level 5, Level 6 and Level 7)
Speciality in Business (3 years full-time study)

Main Characteristics

This programme offers diplomas at Level 5, Level 6 and Level 7. The modules consist of a set of unit standards registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
The programme is designed to equip graduates with broad range of skills and attributes required to be effective and efficient business professionals.

This programme gives strong emphasis on business and provides a good mix of practical and theoretical skills in management, marketing, organisational behaviour and business communication.

Year 1 (level 5) covers the core knowledge areas in business such as business communication, marketing strategies, event, change and strategic management and organisational behaviour.

Year 2 (Level 6) offers business franchising, project management, ethical and conflict strategies, marketing planning and service delivery.

Year 3 includes a challenging and innovative business course. Graduates of Year 3 have the opportunity to pursue degrees at New Zealand Universities.

The New Zealand Diploma in Business
The New Zealand Institute of Management Diploma
Speciality in Management, Marketing, Accounting (1 or 2 years full-time study)

Main Characteristics

This programme NZDip Bus is a nationally recognised qualification that allows students to gain a broad range of general business skills and knowledge to focus on career related options, or to pursue further study and professional development. The Diploma is awarded when 12 papers have been passed including six mandatory core papers. This qualification is widely recognised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand, New Zealand Banker’s Institute, New Zealand Institute of Management (NZIM) and other professional organisations as well as New Zealand employers.

Year 1 places an emphasis on the core business skills: Business Communication; Fundamentals of Marketing; Introduction to Commercial Law; Accounting Principles; Business Computing; The Economic Environment and Organsiation and Management. A student must complete six of the above seven papers listed.

Year 2 builds on these core papers with six electives which can be chosen from a wide range of papers including: Marketing Planning & Control; Buyer Behaviour; Accounting Practices; Management Accounting; Financial Accounting; Taxation; Applied Management; Leadership; Employment Relations; Human Resource Management; Quantitative Business Methods; Operations Management; Applied Computing and Business Finance

New Zealand Institute of Management Diploma (NZIM) is designed as an exit point from the N.Z Diploma in Business for those students who wish to have a basic understanding of management practice but do not wish to specialise in business studies.
